Been dancing this weekend with loads of gorgeous people. Every time I do a bigger piece of dance it interferes with every thing else. I end up having to rest a lot because of the intensity of rehearsing. I have to prioritise and put other things on hold because my energy is so low. I get frustrated and grumpy... Yet I don't want to change anything. I don't want to drop the work I do around emotional well-being and I don't want to dance less. So I just try and keep learning how best to do things. And practice shitloads of self-compassion and patience... So often we don't know how to have conversations about the deeper and more complex parts of being human. Fear of saying the wrong thing, overstepping boundaries or sounding stupid are just a couple of the things that can keep us from being more curious about each other. And every situation is different and every encounter might require something different from us. So it's easy to give up and just stick with small talk. There is a time for small talk but we only become more confident and comfortable with complicated conversations if we expose ourselves to them. #courage #compassion #curiosity #community

Back to my own pace... Sitting, drinking coffee,thinking,checking in, getting distracted, thinking and back to checking in and planning. My pace changes from day to day and I have to adapt my plans depending on levels of pain and mental and physical fatigue. The checking in and becoming painfully aware can be upsetting and the adapting is energy consuming in itself but I keep returning to this way of managing my days because it's what works best long term. I can struggle to fit myself into external structures but I've just managed to do 4 full days of summer school with @people_dancing_uk so feeling pretty chuffed with myself. And very grateful towards the excellent teachers I've met @vgrasse, @uchenna_dance and @stopgapdance who all made it possible for me to find ways to participate and feel okay with my level of participation whatever it was on the day.
